Welcome to Christian Myths. The purpose of this website and blog is to bring truth concerning the Bible and the many different myths people have about the Bible, God, salvation and the traditions they practice. It is amazing to me, that the vast majority of what the Bible teaches a Christian should be and do is not believed or practiced today. On the other hand, the vast majority of what is taught, practiced in church and believed concerning God, Jesus, salvation and worship is not in the Bible. The fact that we have more than a thousand denominations today teaching a large variety of salvation plans should give us great concern. In addition to that, there seems to be no limit to the different number of traditions and beliefs spread by these thousand plus denominations. Yet the Bible plainly teaches that there is only one gospel, one faith, one Lord and one way. Something has gone terribly wrong for it to be this way! Traditions of men and man made Myths have replaced the truth and have canceled out the Word of God!
We were warned by the Lord about this – -"See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ. COL 2:8. The prophet Isaiah saw this coming – -Then the Lord said, "Because this people draw near with their words And honor Me with their lip service, But they remove their hearts far from Me, And their reverence for Me consists of tradition learned by rote ISA 29:13. Tradition learned by rote is the continual repetition of religious practices done week after week. No one seems to know exactly how they got started but after they are done for a while, they (the traditions) become the "truth" and the Bible is no longer regarded as important for seeking the truth!
Here is what Jesus said about tradition – -And the Pharisees and the scribes asked Him, "Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with impure hands?" And He said to them, "Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, 'This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me. 'But in vain do they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.' "Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men." MAR 7:5-7:8.
More than one study has concluded that the modern American Christian church (all denominations included) has the same morals as the secular society around it. The church views just as much immoral and violent entertainment including pornography. The church is just as willing to commit adultery and fornication. The church worships the same idols of materialism, sports, ungodly entertainment and worldly pleasures as the rest of the world. Church members are involved in gossip, dishonesty, cheating, greed, love of money, anger, unforgiveness, jealousy and various chemical additions just like the rest of the world. Unscriptural divorce is more prevalent in the church than in the world. In fact it has become very difficult to distinguish between a so called "believer" and a non believer by the fruit they bear, since it is so similar. The church of today has no moral influence on the world around it as it did in the past decades. The studies done have shown that fewer than 2% of all that claim to be a Christian have a serious relation with God, prayer and the Scriptures. Most of our ministers today have no more of a relationship with God than the vast majority of their members do. The church of today has become a worldly social club led by ungodly men who are experts at making people feel comfortable in their sins by tickling their ears with false teachings which are not found in the Bible and by practicing religious traditions created by men rather than God. The church of today has become part of the broad way that leads to hell!
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to myths (2Ti 4:3,4).
